Thankful

Now that we are in the holiday season, and about to begin a new year, I start to ponder if I used the year that is going out productively. While, I didn't accomplish all that I would have liked to, and that was due to procrastination on my part, I realize I did get a few things accomplished. I am thankful that I am employed, my children and I have our health, we have a roof over our heads and food on the table. The basic necessities. I am thankful that the reason for the holiday, Christmas, is CHRIST! I think that gets lost in all the Black Friday sales and hype. That is not Christmas is all about. It's about love, giving, sharing and caring about the well-being of your fellow man. It is a celebration of life. It's about the most awesome gift that was given to mankind: CHRIST! If folks weren't so hyped about what they can get cheap on Black Friday, and focused more on the CHRIST in Christmas, they wouldn't suffer from the "holiday stress" the news speaks so much of this time of year. Remember, Jesus is the reason for the season.

From the Mouth of Babes

My 13 year-old son came in my room this morning and said to me"Why can't the Democrats and Republicans just work together? That's what our founding fathers did."

Out of the mouth of a child. Now that the mid-term elections are over and the Republicans have regained seats in the House of Representatives, they are saying things are going to be different. How? What changes are going to be made? Are you truly going to be an agent for the betterment of this country or are you going to continue to fight tooth and nail to unravel all that has been done not only in the last two years, but decades?

Why can't the Democrats and Republicans just work together with one common goal in mind? Why must there be a continuous parade of mudslinging and blame hurled back and forth? I think once some people get in office, they forget, it's not about them, it's about this country and all it was founded on and what it stood for. We lost that a long time ago. Many politicians on both side of the aisle are only worried about what they can get out of it and making a name for themselves. They only care about where it is taking them, not where it is taking this country. And right now, that appears to be a a dark path of destruction. Yes, I said it. If the politicians and the American people don't wake up and realize what is happening and work together for the good of all the citizens of this country, we will fall from the inside and we won't have anyone to blame but ourselves.

United we stand divided we fall.

Shame

Well, here we are in the political season and again, the same old stuff, but a different day! The ads the candidates are showing on televison are shameful, arrogant and in need of a serious makeover. Not only do they all tell untruths, but some people actually believe them! Talk about the dumbing down of America! If you really want to know how the candidates voted on issues that concern you: LOOK IT UP! It is a matter of public record and is accessible to you so do your research. Don't take their word for it. Become an informed voter!

The political climate in this country is a disgrace! I have never seen so much hate and anger directed toward a president as it has been toward President Obama. And, the main reason for this behavior? The fact that he is an African-American man! Plain and simple. I don't have a problem with those who truly disagree with his policies and would prefer that someone else be president. What I do have a problem with are those who are just outright hateful and racist in their views. President Obama could get this country back on track in a week if it was humanly possible and they would still find something to complain about. It's evil hatred that they feel and that is it! It is shameful! Other countries are watching and the hate that some of the people in this country fell toward their leader, and he is our leader, is downright wrong! When will America learn? A house divided against itself will fall!

America needs to wake up!

Fifteen Minutes of Fame

When did people with no talent become celebrities? Today it seems that all you have to is make a sex tape, say someone stole it, (but you really put it out there) and wait. Bam! Instant celebrity. How can you live like that? Really. So, you want to be famous, or should I say infamous all because of a sex tape? Wow! What high aspirations you have! Do you not have any character about yourself? To make it worse, clubs and others actually pay these people thousands of dollars just to show up at their event! That is crazy! There are people out here working their butts off and who are actually doing something meaningful, helping to save lives, etc., and they don't get the recognition or money these "so-called" celebrities receive. Then you have all these supposedly reality shows where people just make total asses of themselves and here they go with their 15 minutes! It doesn't make any sense. We as the American public must stop giving credence to these types programs. Yes, they may be entertaining for a while, but how much more can we take!

Relationships

Today, I started thinking. Why do people judge others by what they have been told about that person before they even have an actual, real conversation with the person they don't even know? I know we are all guilty of this. Some of us learn from it and do our best not to ever do it again. Others never learn and continue in their ignorance.

God is a God of light and love and if we profess to love God, then we need to learn how to love others as He loves us. If not, then we are being hypocrites. I know we will stumble from time to time: we are human and that is how humans are, but to continue on the path and keep doing it, shows we are not willing to change and will lead us on a path of self-destruction. We will shut out those who can be a tool to get us where God wants us to be and be a help and vice versa. But, we will not know that because we choose to believe and go on what others have told us instead of finding out for ourselves the truth.

In all of our relationships, we should strive to be the best we can be. If you truly cannot be your best or don't feel this relationship is right for you, then leave it. Let the person with whom you are friends with know that you feel it is best that you go your separate ways. This applies to all relationships. Who wants to stay in a relationship/friendship/church/organization/employer, etc., where you are not being treated as you should? That is phony and it does nothing to help you achieve your destiny. If you are not happy, then you will not give 100% to that particular relationship. You are only hurting yourself and those around you.

For relationships of any kind to work, all parties must be willing to give it their very best. They must learn to disagree without being disagreeable. Don't let disagreements ruin your relationships with those around you. Relationships are a vital part of who we are. Don't judge others if you really don't know them. Take the time to get to know them. You don't know what you may be missing out on!

Decisions

Right now, I am at a crossroads. I am ready to leave the place I am now and go somewhere new. I need a change. I need to get out of here. I really need to pray and ask God what to do. I really, really need His divine guidance right now. The general consensus with those who matter is yes, they are ready for a change too!

I know there are some who will say, you just got a good job, why do you want to leave it? Well, it's about peace of mind, it's about what's best for my family. I really like the place I want to go. It's nice, it's clean, it's a little more quiet than where we are now. Just like I left Philly to come to where I am now, I can go to a new place and do the same. It's been with me for over a year now to want to move and it really hasn't left. The more I visited, the more I want to go.

So, now I will just keep it in prayer.

Peace and blessings!

Purpose

God has given each one of us a purpose in life. If you don't know what your purpose is, then you should pray and ask God what it is He wants you to do. He has already equipped you with the talents and tools to live your purpose and has placed and is placing the people in your life that you need to fulfill that purpose. He created us for Him. Our purpose is to be fruitful and multiply.

As true believers of God, we are to let His light shine through us so that others will see it. When you are walking in the way and the will of the Lord, others will see it and see your life and want to know what it is that has you smiling and really living your life.

Is the light of God shining on you? Are you living your purpose. Seek the Word of God so you may know the Will of God. He is waiting for you.

New Beginnings

On Saturday, my oldest daughter graduated from college! It was such a wonderful day! It seems like only yesterday that I held her in my arms. Now, she is a beautiful, caring, intelligent no-nonsense young woman. I am so very proud of her. In spite of the adversity heaped upon her in her early years, she has grown into a wonderful young woman who knows what she wants and how to get there without compromising her morals and her integrity! God has blessed her and I know He has great plans for her.

In the same week, I celebrated my birthday. 47! Wow! Where did all the time go? I missed all of my 20's and a couple of years of my 30;s due to the abuse my children and I went through. But, that is in the past and we have moved on! I am looking forward to life and enjoying it and living my purpose! It's not easy, but God has made a way and He opens doors that other people close and He closes doors that we have no business going through. He knows what is best for us and what we need and who is needed in our lives to get us to where He is taking us! God bless.

Don't Sweat the Small Stuff

Sometimes, people do things that irritate us, anger us and sadden us, or they speak wrong about us or treat us like crap. It's times like this that we must remember that God created us for a divine purpose. We are divinely created so we should not let people who did not create us dictate how we should feel about ourselves. It doesn't matter who the people who treat us like this are. We need to know that God loves us, He cares about us and He knows the plans he has for us. We should focus on living that purpose and plan. Live for God, not for man. God's ways are not man's ways. God's thoughts are not our thoughts. We need to be more in tune with God's wishes than man's opinions of us. So today, make it a point to go out and live God's purpose for your life. If you aren't sure, pray and wait for an answer! Trust me, you will be surprised and less stressed!

Peace and Blessings

Cleaning House

Today, as I reflect back on some things, I have come to the conclusion that it is time to clean house. It is time to keep business separate from personal and personal separate from business with some folks, but with some people, the two definitely don't mix well. That is just the way it is. You have to keep some people strictly on a business level and remove them from your personal life. Why? Because when it comes to the personal side, sometimes, in spite of your best efforts, you just get kicked to the curb. You know you did nothing to deserve such treatment, on the contrary, you were your true self, caring, loving and provided and ear for those who needed it. Now, when you need an ear, or a kind word, what happens? No one is around. All you hear are crickets!! Everyone just disappears. You know their out there, lurking, watching, waiting for you to not notice them. But, you do. You see them very well. See them for what they are. So, if you need to clean house...do it. In the long run, it will be better for you.

First Post

Tuesday, May 11, 2010
This is my first blog post. It's 8:46pm and I am a little bored right now. Not really going ot post anything thought-provoking, sarcastic, funny, etc. Just wanted to say hello and welcome. What I will blog about is anybody's guess. I will just go with the flow. This might be fun. I hope it will be both fun and informative for me and anyone who may actually read this and care about anything I have to say. So, with that said, welcome to my blog and I hope that I can provide some comfort, information and humor to you as you read my blogs.

This is a big week for my family. Tomorrow is my birthday and on Saturday, my oldest will be graduating from college. I am so excited. I think I am more excited than she is. They grow up so fast. It seems like just yesterday that she was graduating from high school, and as second in her class I might add. I am very proud of her. She has come a long way. We all have. It's been a bumpy ride, but God has kept us and sustained us and I know He will continue to do so. I give Him all glory, honor and praise for greaty is thy faithfulness!

So, have a blessed night, hug your children/spouse/friends/signigicant other and give yourself a hug too! If we don't love ourselves first, how do we expect others to love us.

Peace and Blessings,
